Mary Alicia Barnes, OTD, OTR/L has worked with children and adolescents with learning needs and mental health conditions as well as with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities addressing educational, social, and self-determination needs. She is a faculty member at Tufts University’s Department of Occupational Therapy where she has taught and mentored occupational therapy students for over 30 years. Mary has published and presented on numerous topics related to group therapy, mentoring, trauma informed care, criminal justice, and occupational therapy education. In her role as OT Supervisor/Mentor, she works collaboratively with the occupational therapy staff to support therapists’ clinical reasoning and implementing best practices in their roles in school based as well as residential services.
