The Guild’s Isaac Mukwaya Honored with DSP of the Year Award
The Guild is excited to announce that Isaac Mukwaya, Residential Assistant with Sudbury House, was honored with the Direct Support Professional of the Year Award for Massachusetts by the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR). ANCOR is a national association of community-based service providers that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Earlier this month, Guild CEO Amy C. Sousa wrote an op-ed in Commonwealth Magazine, What’s causing the boarding crisis in hospitals? The article looks at the crisis of psychiatric boarding and its direct connection to the dire need for residential services for people with complex developmental and behavioral health needs.
The Guild’s Bob Renois Honored at Providers’ Council’s Conference
Bob Renois, a Residential Assistant with Walnut House, was honored with an Award of Excellence at the Providers’ Council’s annual convention and expo on Monday, October 3rd. Bob has worked at The Guild for over 23 years in both Residential Assistant and Assistant Residential Manager capacities.

COVID-19 Documentary "The World Got Smaller" by The Guild to premiere March 16
The Guild for Human Services, which educates, encourages, and empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities, is premiering its documentary, The World Got Smaller: The Spirit of The Guild during COVID-19 on March 16th at 1 PM EST online. The short film provides a first-hand look at how the pandemic curtailed the community life of individuals with intellectual disabilities. The film is being released to commemorate the second anniversary of the State of Emergency declared in Massachusetts and the subsequent closing of schools.

The Guild Receives Grant from Sudbury Foundation to Connect Nonspeaking Children with Family Online
The Guild for Human Services recently was awarded a $19,130 grant from the Sudbury Foundation to support an online expressive arts therapy program for families of nonspeaking children at The Guild School.
The Guild Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month
In October, The Guild celebrated National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM reflects the importance of ensuring that people with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement. Throughout the month, the national #NDEAM campaign aimed to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
Nazli Kibria, PhD Elected to The Guild’s Board of Trustees
The Guild for Human Services recently elected Nazli Kibria to its Board of Trustees. Kibria is a Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Boston University. She was born in Bangladesh and received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her PhD in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.
