As part of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, each day last week we highlighted a different DSP and asked them a series of questions. Read on to get to know two more members of our incredible DSP staff!:
Abenaa Kwabena, Residential Assistant - Framingham House
When did you start working at The Guild?
I started working at The Guild in 2017.
What do you enjoy about working in human services?
I love my job and enjoy making the residents happy. I love to see them be able to do things for themselves.
Do you have a favorite memory from working with a student or resident?
My favorite moment with the individuals is when I can assist them to finish a task or when I see them get excited. When I put their favorite program on TV, the excitement on their faces is priceless!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to go shopping, cook, and go for walks.
Wilio Jumelle, Assistant Residential Manager - Pine House
When did you start working at The Guild?
I started working at The Guild in September of 2015.
What do you enjoy about working in human services?
I really enjoy helping the kids and doing activities with them. I love working with them, and I think things should be easier for kids with disabilities.
Do you have a favorite memory from working with a student or resident?
My favorite memory is from when I first started the job: I had one resident who I really formed a close bond with. When you treat someone with respect, that’s how you become close with them. It’s important to me to keep the kids safe and treat them like I would my own.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am a soccer coach (my son is on my team!) and also love watching soccer in my free time. I like to keep busy!
