Gone are the sterile white walls, replaced by large, evocative murals that greet students, staff and visitors to the Ocean, Forest and Neighborhood. Break rooms now bear the names of favorite animals. Welcome to The Guild School 2020.
Help us make a difference with a gift to The Guild
It’s not too early to begin thinking about making a year-end gift to The Guild for Human Services.
Support from members of The Guild community – families, friends, businesses and staff – provides funding for recreational and community-based activities and other programming not covered by tuition or residential reimbursement.
Artists from The Umbrella Arts Center donate vibrant artwork
Where there were once blank walls in The Guild’s first-floor conference rooms and administrative areas, beautiful landscapes and other paintings donated by a local arts center are now hanging.
Guild launches a new family resource library
The Guild for Human Services is launching a new family resource library and is encouraging parents and guardians to donate books, DVDs, magazines, brochures, pamphlets and other materials to give them a "second life" for use by other families.
Donated materials should be related to topics like parenting, autism, behavioral health, child mental health, child psychology, Down syndrome, special education and transitioning into adulthood.
In early 2020, Guild families will be able to borrow materials.
New dental chair to provide ‘lift’ to Guild School’s in-house clinic
Thanks to the MDS Foundation, The Guild School’s dental clinic will soon have a new comfortable and accessible examination chair.
Through its Targeted Grant program, the foundation recently made a $2,000 gift to The Guild to replace the aging chair now in use. The new Galaxy dental 3285 X-ray exam chair is due to arrive any day.
Giving back to The Guild community
For Peg Doherty, the concept of The Guild as a special community really hit home on Easter Sunday.
On that exact day a couple of months ago, her son, Christian, expressed his desire to return to his residence at Sudbury House after spending a few hours visiting with his parents. They asked him why he wanted to go back so soon.
“Because I like being there,” he answered, a few words delivering a powerful message.
Appreciative family gives back to The Guild
Samantha Carrroll’s upcoming graduation from The Guild School will be a bittersweet day for her parents, Dan and Lisa. The graduation ceremony will represent an opportunity to celebrate her myriad accomplishments, but also a time to bid goodbye to a community that has supported and encouraged Samantha for the last six years.

Meet The Guild's new president: Thomas P. Corcoran
Thomas P. Corcoran, the new president of the Board of Trustees, is struck that even now, more than five years after his son Conor graduated from The Guild School, staff members inquire about him.
“When I walk around The Guild, I still get asked, ‘Hey, how’s Conor doing? We really miss him.’ ”
Bridge classroom helps less fortunate
What began as an educational lesson in The Guild School’s Bridge classroom grew into a collaborative class project to support individuals impacted by the Merrimack Valley gas explosions.
