May 6-10th marked Teacher Appreciation Week! Every day, Guild School education staff create engaging learning opportunities for students tailored to their unique interests and needs. Thanks to these dedicated team members, students have the opportunity to go out into the community for 'Without Walls' lessons, participate in adaptive recreation and athletic activities, learn critical life skills to build independence, and more.

Ed Barry, Teacher Assistant
What drew you to the field of human services?
I’ve been involved in special needs all my life, and I wanted to work in a school setting that was catered to that. I enjoy assisting students so they can excel in the community.
What’s your favorite professional memory?
My favorite moments are going on trips with students in the summer - whether it be to the beach or to the movies - and watching them enjoy being out in the community.
What’s the best part about your job?
The best part of my job is watching the progress made by students!
Wanda Brito, Classroom Teacher
What drew you to the field of human services?
I grew up taking care of my great grandmother who was a disabled woman, and so I began working as a home health aide when I came to the U.S.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is seeing students succeed in communicating their wants and needs. Their creativity and intelligence impress me every day.
Do you have a favorite professional memory?
My favorite memory was watching the first student I had learn how to read.
Christine Reggio, Speech-Language Pathologist - Clinical Fellow
What drew you to the field of human services?
I’ve always loved any opportunity to interact and collaborate with others. Growing up, I watched my mom work as an SLP and knew that I wanted to make a difference in the way she does.
What’s your favorite professional memory?
At The Guild, it’s been rewarding to join students on trips into the community. My favorite memory was seeing a student order a meal at a restaurant using their communication device.
What’s the best part about your job?
It’s incredibly rewarding to collaborate with other professionals to support students and watch them make progress toward their goals!
